Dr. med. JenniferFaber
Jennifer Faber studied medicine and mathematics at the University of Bonn. After a research stay at Stanford University, she continued her scientific work at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases. In her interdisciplinary work, she focuses on structural magnetic resonance imaging at field strengths of 3 and 7T and the identification of biomarkers with the aim of modelling disease progression and personalized prediction. Jennifer Faber has been funded by the Hertie Foundation in the "Network of Excellence in Clinical Neuroscience" and her research has received several awards, most recently the "Pioneer SCA3 Translational Research Award" in 2024. Her scientific and clinical focus is on ataxia disorders. Ataxias are rare neurological movement disorders characterized by progressive gait, balance, fine motor and speech disorders. Jennifer Faber has been head of the Ataxia Ambulance at the Center of Neurology since March 2024. The Ataxia Ambulance was the first and only European center besides UCL London to be named an "Ataxia Center of Excellence" by the National Ataxia Foundation in 2023 for its integrated concept of patient care and research.
