Luisa Kaluza studied human medicine at RWTH Aachen University. She completed her doctorate in neurophysiology on the topic of sodium channels and generalised pain syndromes and their pathophysiological basis at RWTH Aachen University. Since 2019, she has been working as a junior doctor in neurology at the University Hospital Bonn with a clinical and scientific focus on neuromuscular diseases. Since 2023, she has also been involved in research into fundamental neurobiological mechanisms of action control as a study doctor in medical psychology. She is particularly interested in the influence of systemic factors on various cognitive and behavioural processes.
As part of the Neuro-aCSis fellowship, she is working on the influence of metaflammation, a chronic, low-grade inflammation associated with obesity, on motivational and reward-related behaviour, as well as its potential modelling through transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation.
